The Dude Of The Week: 5/21/17
"The Dude Of The Week" first started on my Facebook page in March 2009, because I didn't know what to do with that text box that they added underneath your profile picture. Finally, I thought the perfect way to utilize that useless addition would be to present the latest "man crush" that I've developed over the past seven days. I did it for six years straight, week after week without interruption - until I stopped. Now, with the success of The Keystone Statement, I bring DOTW back from it's Internet depths. So without any more verbal garbage, here it is.
5/21/17: George Harrison
Georgie boy has been a DOTW before, not quite as far back "When We Were Fab", but it's been awhile since my favorite Beatle has made an appearance. If you've decided to soil your ears with Episode 11 of The Keystone Cast (available on iTunes - write a review, if not you probably think The Monkees are the ultimate rock band), then you may have seen this one coming. I started off by cherry picking a few of George's tunes on the Spotify ("Crackerbox Palace" & "Living In A Material World" to be precise), but then I stumbled onto his "All Things Must Pass" album and I was back in the fold. What was so cool about George is that he was unabashed in his spirituality and he wasn't afraid of putting that out through his fine tunage - something that if you attempted today would not be so warmly-welcomed on the pop charts.
So many good songs on this one, but allow me to embed a couple clips for you to tap your toes to (we'll start with an obvious one):
You can have your Paul and John, but I'm George guy through and through.
