The Dude Of The Week: 4/22/17
'The Dude Of The Week" first started on my Facebook page in March 2009, because I didn't know what to do with that text box that they added underneath your profile picture. Finally, I thought the perfect way to utilize that useless addition would be to present the latest "man crush" that I've developed over the past seven days. I did it for six years straight, week after week without interruption - until I stopped. Now, with the success of The Keystone Statement, I bring DOTW back from it's Internet depths. So without any more verbal garbage, here it is.
This is kind of a weird induction, not because of Michael Keaton as the man himself is radical in any form or fashion, but because of my reasoning for giving him the nod.
You ever read? Like a book? As in a novel? When I do (which is often), I tend to "cast" actors in the character roles. Well, I'm reading a book called New York 2140 for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and it has about eight different primary characters in which the story swirls around (New York's flooded in the future, things happen. stay tuned for a book review, blah, blah) and to maintain interest I put Pittsburgh's very own Batman into one of the leading roles. Granted, his character doesn't constantly make TLC references or play any Harry Belafonte to spook house guests, but Keaton's versatile enough to fill almost any role, so him as a middle-aged landlord with eastern European lineage isn't too far of a stretch for him.
