Ben McAdoo Is The Big Apple's Gas Station McIntosh
The Big Apple's big apple of professional football has sure shown it's bruises. Mealiness is probably the best definition of "Slick" Benny McAdoo's decision making in benching two-time Super Bowl MVP in Eli Manning. He's apparently maneuvering for job security by trying to show the Giants a hand of the future with jawbreaker Geno Smith? And that other guy Webb who didn't even sniff any preseason reps?
Jerry Reese and John Mara is trusting this guy, his pants, posture and poor photogenicy over a quarterback who has played in over 200 consecutive games for the one of the most high-pressure teams in all of the NFL? How many times has he looked like he's soiled himself on the sidelines? Three weeks ago he couldn't even mutter a response regarding his locker room and you're backing this dope's decision making?
More mealier than a McIntosh apple at a gas station. "Let's not admonish OBJ for pissing like a dog or proposing to a kicking net, but instead have our team leader ride the pine for the rest of the season."
And let's not dump on Eli for almost crying (I'm just impressed he held it together for the entirety of the interview - he was teetering on the brink the whole time). This isn't a Johnny Sacks at his daughter's wedding type situation. The guy has played 210 games in a row and grinds it out week in and out, it would be like Tony Soprano being besmirched in the profession of Mafioso. What else could he do? Actually run the waste management business? Ludicrous. It's like Vic Mackey sitting at that sterilized desk in end of The Shield. Can't tame a tiger, folks. Jungle cat's gotta run down a gazelle here and there. If you're putting the stud out to pasture that way, of course he's gonna struggle with that realization.
Like many, I would have thought that the nail in the coffin was McAdootosh's evident inability to keep this Giants' team together in the face of the drama and the 19-something injured reserves, but he just unnecessarily added to it. I have a very hard time buying in that the locker room buys into this garbage decision. I'd bank that Giants fans don't have to worry about him being around next year considering the backlash he and the brass are (and will be) taking. Eli may have been his scapegoat, but he'll eventually be the rotten apple Eli will carry out with him. Same with Reese Cup.
